Intro

Being a fiber addict is only one facet of my personality. But it best describes what I like to do in my spare time. Fiber in it's many forms brings out my creative side. I love to touch it and work it into something useful or something beautiful, hopefully both at the same time.

I have been a sewer since I was 10. I sewed to be able to use the things I made, and later sewed for extra money. Then I started quilting. I loved to work with the colors and started making art quilts that were impressionistic in nature.

Then after I moved 2 years ago, I found it difficult to get back into quilting. I will do it again someday, but for now it is on hold. But I felt the urge to create even as I was dealing with this transition in my life.

Then a year ago I took a spinning class and was hooked. I had been knitting and crocheting all my life, simple things. But then after I started spinning, I had to figure out what to do with the yarn. So I started knitting. I found I like the challenge of lace knitting as it has a charted pattern which is totally harmonious with my nature. Basically, the more complicated, the better. I love charts and anything on graph paper. It's a challenge. I also enjoy counted cross stitch.

I love the portable nature of spinning and knitting/crocheting. I can take it with me anywhere. I get lots of comments when using the hand spindle. People are not so used to seeing that. But anyone who loves fiber/yarn will come up and ask me what I'm making if I have something in my hands. And I can do it while doing something else and feel like I'm accomplishing something creative even while talking or watching TV. If you have a love of creating things with your hands, drop me a note. I would love to hear from you.
